Neither side is to blame, both are

Not just one party or group of people is at fault here. The white supremacist/ alt-right and antifa/ BLM both showed up to ready start a fight, both groups can armed, both groups have a history of riots/ violent protests. Both provoked and escalated violence on the other side. The police should have done more to maintain law and order and the governor should not have given a stand down. He should have granted police full authority to do their jobs and stop the situation before it got as bad as it did
