Standardized tests like the SAT have proven themselves to be better indicators of parent wealth than anything else. They do not reflect the wide skillset that any valuable, intelligent, creative and insightful person has. It’s like that common phrase, judging a fish by its ability to climb a tree. We need to stop judging our children by this standard. It defines so much in our lives and careers and essentially promotes one type of person, leaving all sorts of creative geniuses in the dust. Our education needs to come up with a new method to measure student performance.
